CONSULTATION
Before the treatment can go ahead you will need to undergo a detailed consultation with myself, to ensure that you’re suitable for the procedure and do not have any contraindications that would prevent or restrict it from taking place such as; Psoriasis, Eczema, raised moles, Rosacea, active acne, Diabetes, chronic skin complaints, severe Solar Keratosis, are being prescribed certain medications, prone to Keloid scarring and skin infections to name a few.
After carrying out a skin analysis, the area to be treated will be thoroughly cleansed. The procedure will then be carried out with a series of methodical and target specific strokes and multiple passes being made directly on the skin with the dermal roller, with the primary aim of penetrating the epidermal layers to create mild trauma, which will stimulate the production of collagen and elastin proteins to the site and rejuvenate the skin. A vitamin infused or cosmeceutical product will then be added to the skin for rapid absorption and to add greater value to the treatment.
Below are a few questions that we have designed to help answer any initial questions you may have about dermal rollers.
- What will the procedure feel like?
A. You can expect to feel a mild sensation similar in effect to a light scratching or prickling. Certain areas on the face may be more sensitive due to the skin being thinner. - What will my skin look like after the treatment?
A. Immediately after the treatment your skin will be red in colour, similar to a mild sunburn. It may also feel slightly tender, tight and a little hot due to the stimulation that has occurred. - Will the effects be immediate?
A. Your skin will post treatment need time to repair and regenerate, so taking this into account you may not begin to notice a significant change in the appearance of your skin until several weeks afterwards. Client results vary as every skin is different with some seeing a difference after a couple of weeks and others noticing the effect up to six weeks later. It’s important to remember that after the procedure has been carried out your skin will begin to undergo the process of desquamation (shedding of old cells), which will take place prior to new healthy cells appearing. - How long will the results last?
A. Like with any beauty treatment there are several factors that will need to be taken into consideration in order to gain maximum benefit from this treatment namely; your diet, exposure to environmental pollutants, overall health/wellness, daily skincare regime and sun exposure, all of which will be discussed with you directly as part of the treatment aftercare. - How often can I have a dermal roller treatment?
A. Every individual will be different due to their skin type, issues that they wish to address and lifestyle habits, however as a general rule after an initial series of treatments have taken place clients are advised to rebook a maintenance treatment every 6 weeks to retain optimum benefits.
